The Medela contact nipple shield is a great product. My grandaughter won’t nurse without it. My daughter recently moved and almost panicked when she couldn’t find them in the store. Thanks to Amazon we were able to ship her several. Medela makes a great product, from the nipple shields to the bottles to the breast pump.

I brought these shields and used it all of 2 times because of sore nipples. But I found hot compresses and the ointment work the best. I haven’t used them since and now I don’t need them.

Great product to get baby to latch back on after refusing. And when you are so sore during the first couple weeks. However, I would say to definitely get fitted by a lactation consultant before purchasing, as I needed a size small and a regular sized one.

From the beginning, my baby would not nurse. I was determined to breastfeed (didn’t want to pay for formula and also wanted the bonding experience for both baby and me). I pumped and bottle-fed for the first 2 weeks. Then someone mentioned this product…I had never heard of it…I did some research and found that it helps with latching problems and sore nipples. My baby had no trouble latching on with the shields and now nurses without a problem without using the shields. I am so relieved that this product worked!

I couldn’t get my baby to latch at all during first 24 hrs of birth. All the nurses tried to help and he’d get on for maybe 2 seconds, we have multiple nursing lactation consultants come in to help and they had no luck. Finally after 24 hrs one of them recommended this because my poor baby was frustrated and starving.
One of my nipples is still sore but that’s because of how I am putting him on I think because my other one I can barely feel now when he’s on and he’s almost 2 weeks old. I used lanolin on the sore one and it’s not so bad when I get him at the right angle.
This is really easy to clean to. Between feedings just wash with little soap and warm/hot water then I keep it in a sealed bowl near my bed for feedings. It helps when you can’t get baby to eat and you still want that bonding and contact!
