This conversion kit helped me save money on bottles by allowing me to use my Medela Freestyle pump with existing Avent bottles that we’d previously purchased. The alternative would have been to pump into the Medela bottles and then transfer the milk to the Avent, but this kit makes it so much easier. There are four pieces per kit: 2 converters to pump directly into any Avent bottle/Avent milk storage set that are identically shaped as the bottles and 2 converters to pump directly into the Avent VIA line of milk storage. The converters screw onto the bottom of the flanges where you would normally screw a Medela bottle, adding just one more piece to the normal pump setup.

I work outside the home full time but was committed to breastfeeding, so pumping became a big part of my life. I needed a pump/storage combination that was quick, easy, and portable. I use the Medela Pump In Style, which in my experience is the most recommended pump and deserves to be. At first, I was pumping into Medela 4oz bottles, but didn’t like them for feeding (the nipples always leaked). Then I tried pumping into Medela Pump and Store bags, which was ok – they didn’t leak for me – but meant extra expense (buying the bags) and extra work (transferring the milk from the bag into a bottle for feeding). THEN, I tried pumping directly into Playtex VentAire (narrow neck) bottles, which fit onto the Medela pump. Worked ok for a little while, until ALL the VentAire bottles started leaking from the bottom (this isn’t a review of those bottles, but let me say that for MANY reasons I would NOT recommend them!).

When I saw this conversion kit, I was beyond excited. And when I received it, and it WORKED, I was just thrilled!!! Avent bottles are easy to clean (no complicated, small pieces) and reliably non-leaking, in my experience. One side note: I always pumped more than 4 oz, but less than 9oz (the only 2 Avent bottle sizes available), so I started using the 7oz Avent Magic Trainer cup. It fits the pump conversion kit and fits any Avent bottle ring/nipple combination. It comes with a sippy cup spout, so you can still use it when your baby is old enough (just be sure to purchase nipples separately if you plan to use the cups for a younger baby).

I’m so glad a friend of mine told me about this conversion kit!! It works great with my Medela Pump in Style Advanced. Pumping directly into the Avent bottles cuts down on the evening bottle washing time (I only have to wash the 2 bottles my daughter drank from that day), which is really nice! I also purchased the Avent sealing discs, so the 9-oz Avent bottles will fit into the cooler bag that came with the pump (otherwise the the bottles are too tall).

  4. As a mom who pumps exclusively, this adapter came in handy when I was using the Avent bottles. It comes with two sets of adapters. I only needed the Avent bottle adapter to work with my Pump in Style Advanced. Too bad I retired most of my Avent bottles. They just didn’t quite work for us. I felt that they gave my little one gas (as opposed to Dr. Brown’s). But I digress…these adapters are still handy every now and then when I do grab the one Avent bottle I still have out when I’m behind on washing my other bottles. Definitely recommend.

  5. To pump with the Medela pump I rented from the hospital directly into the Avent storage containers or the bottles is great! I highy recommend getting the Avent Breastmilk Storage containers with this for refrigeration storage & getting the Medela storage bags for the freezer. Great product!
