Breastfeeding mothers, especially those who need a night off or who work outside the home, know how essential and personal a breast pump can be. Like most breast pumps, this Medela model mimics a nursing baby’s sucking motion, and it comes with numerous attachments that make it easy to transfer a mother’s milk into a standard baby bottle. Because of its compact size, the pump is discreet and highly portable. It comes with a companion transformer, so it can be plugged into an electrical outlet, or it can be powered with two AA batteries. –Hannah Reynolds

Very pricey, doesnt work any better than the medela manual. Pumped very little milk and it is not easy to use if you want to pump one breast while feeding the baby on the other. I would skip this pump alltogether. It is noisy as well!!

I also bought this pump at the recommendation of a lactation specialist. No matter what I try I can’t seem to “let down” with this pump. It’s noisy and it leaks. It is without a doubt the worst, most useless product I’ve ever purchased.

I wasn’t terribly comfortable with the idea of breastfeeding anyway, but felt pressured into at least pumping when my son practically chewed my nipples off and I couldn’t continue. The noise this pump gives off is loud like the other moms have said, but for me the kicker is that the suction sounds like a cow mooing!

After two weeks of producing maybe 4-5 ounces in 45 minutes every three hours and still coming up with blood-tinged milk, I gave up breast milk altogether and formula fed our son.

Our second is due in 5 weeks and I still have this pump and want to try breastfeeding with a more open mind. I’m hoping that the mechanics of it all come more naturally this time because I’m not looking forward to using this pump again!

  4. I got this pump at my shower and I regret not having looked around for a better pump. My son gained over 2 lbs in two weeks so I know he’s getting enough when he nurses, but I struggle at times to get ONE ounce, sometimes two if I’m lucky. Even if I take a hot shower first to encourage let down, still no luck. It’s a piece of crap.

This didn’t work for me. I would have to nurse my daughter on one side and pump on the other to get like 1.5 ozs. for 25 minutes. That got more and more complicated the bigger she got. That wasn’t worth my time. I don’t work so I just breastfeed her all of the time and give the very occassional formula. Maybe it’s just me though.
