After a lot of comparisons and reading reviews I chose the Ameda Purely Yours Dual Electric Breastpump before my daughter was born and paid over $200 for the damn thing. The motor burnt out after less then 3 months of use. I called Hollister and they sent me a replacement base (took 3 days had to stay home sick from work) The 2nd base just did the same thing after again less then 3 months of use. I told them that I need the pump to be overnighted Saturday delivery and it didn’t show-up until Monday again needed to take time off so I could be home for my daughter to nurse and now the AC Adaptor broke and the damn thing is weak on batteries. Nothing but a headache.

While less expensive than a Medela pump, I’ve come to the conclusion that the extra money would have been worth it. I’m now researching the best price I can find for a Medela Pump In Style Backpack. This pump is not great and has caused a lot of bruising on me. My baby is 3 months old, and I’ve been bruised since the first week. My lactation consultant says this is the result of the pump I am using. While the pump is functional, it is not high quality or high yield on milk. Consumers should go with something else.

I would not recommend this pump. It was fine when my baby was eating only a few ounces, but now it takes me a good 30-40 minutes to pump 6 ounces! I pump 3-4 times a day and this takes too much time.
Warning that this pump is also prone to making grinding or squeeking noises, even without which the pump is fairly loud. After several weeks of use, my new pump began to make a high-pitched squeaking sound. The company first tried to convince me that these noises are “normal” after a while, but gave in and send a replacement. The replacement motor made a strange grinding sound that was even worse! The company again said that even grinding sounds are normal, but I insisted on a replacement. I am now on my second replacement pump; no problems so far (it’s been a couple of months) but overall this product is a disappointment. It’s worth the money to get a more efficient and reliable pump.

I read reviews of the different breast pumps available. The review I read for the Ameda was written by a woman who had purchased it on the recommendation of two friends, who stated that though this pump was much cheaper than the number one rated pump it worked just as well. I bought this one for my second daughter and it works just as well as the more expensive one my first daughter had received as a gift.
I would recommend this breast pump as a money saving product.
